How We Create

Le Studio Violetta designs begin with you, whether you have a specific vision for your dress, or simply an idea of fabrics, details or styles you like, and evolve as we work together. You are not only the client, but our collaborator in the process.

It is a singular experience, one you won’t find walking into a bridal salon or store. There are no ready-to-wear gowns here, and no hard choices between dresses that have some, but not all, of the elements you want. You won't need to compromise to have the dress you desire, and you shouldn't have to.

 

We begin by sharing ideas, whether at our studio or a location you choose, then create design sketches based on our discussions. After agreeing on a final sketch, you will have your first fitting in the muslin prototype of your dress. Unlike less customized design studios, you are still welcome to make changes, large or small, at this point. After all, the flow of the fabric itself often brings forth new ideas.  Once your dress is cut into the actual fabric, you will have additional fittings at our studio, as close as two weeks prior to the ceremony if desired, to ensure the fit is ideal. 

 

Our designs, first and foremost, reflect these beliefs. From our Broadway costume-building roots, we bring professional craft and traditions to bear on very personal designs. Each is one of a kind-not for its own sake, but because it is created for one person only.  With you as the inspiration—your style, your taste, and most importantly, your wishes—each creation finds its voice in fabric, in intricate details, in the way it flows on your form. The fabrics, whether vintage or contemporary, speak of luxury and grace: duchess satin, silk crepe and matelasse, chiffon, silk gazar, and lace. Hand-beading and embroidery add delicacy or whimsy: intimacy in the detailing. Silk linings and hand finishing ensure an impeccable fit, and ease in the wearing; the true art lies not in creating something beautiful, but in something beautiful that can be worn. Every dress we make marries a love of design with time-honored techniques to reflect both the beauty of the fabric you have chosen, and your own personal tastes.
